For the second time in a row the Regina River Rats have been crowned champion of the Qu'appelle Valley Junior Hockey League & Provincial Junior C Champions of Saskatchewan. Regina defeated the Lumsden Lumberjax 4-2 in game 5 of a best of 5 series at the Al Ritchie arena in Regina, Sk.
Reginas' first goal came at the 11:47 mark in the first period was scored by Joshia Marica assists going to Ethan Reis and Kasey Dodd. Lumsden countered with a goal of their own at 7:06 which was scored by Zach Pearce assisted by Brodie Schuette. The first period ended in a 1-1 tie.
The River Rats rocketed 3 quick goals in the second to go up 4-1. Regina's second goal was sniped by Trey Clark at 8:50 and was assisted by Joshia Marcia and Donavan Flude. Their third goal was scored by Nathan Hemphill from Ryan Uhrich. The River Rat's fourth goal was scored by Tanner Russel from Nathan Hemphill and Ryan Uhrich. Lumsden was able to slip one more past Gerber to make it 4-2 with 1:29 left in the second period but it turn out to not be enough to mount a comeback as their was no scoring in the third period. Lumsden's second goal was scored by Mason Haus and was assisted by Josh Beaudry. Final score 4-2, Regina wins the best of 5 series 3-2.
