Two teams have advanced to the Qu'appelle Valley Jr Hockey League Semi-Finals!
The Yellow Grass Junior C Wheat Kings have defeated the White Butte Eagles Junior Hockey Club in a thrilling three game series that was decided by two overtime games which decided Games 1 & 2. Game 1 went to White Butte in 7-6 in overtime at home in Odessa. The the series shifted south to Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan where the Wheat Kings took game two by a score of 4-3 in double overtime. In game 3 Yellow Grass dominated White Butte by a score of 7-2 to win the series 2-1. Yellow Grass will advance to the semi finals to now either play the Wolseley Mustangs or the Regina River Rats depending on who wins the series between Bredenbury and Lumsden. If Bredenbury wins the Wheat Kings will play Wolseley, Bredenbury currently leads the series 1-0. If Lumsden comes back to win in three games, the Wheat Kings will play Regina.
The Regina River Rats Junior Hockey Club swept the Cupar Canucks Junior Hockey Club in two games in their best of three series. In game one the River Rats handed the Canucks a 7-2 loss and in game two Regina absolutely hammered Cupar in a 10-0 shutout. Regina will now advance to the semi final to play either Bredenbury or Yellow Grass. If Bredenbury defeats Lumsden on Feb 24, the River Rats will face off against the Tundra in the semi finals. If Lumsden wins, Regina will play Yellow Grass.
The Bredenbury Tundra Junior Hockey Club defeated the Lumsden Jaxx Junior Hockey Club in game one by a score or 7-5 in Bredenbury on Feb 16th. Bredenbury takes a 1-0 lead in the best of three series. The series swings back to Lumsden, Saskatchewan on Saturday Feb 24 for game two at 2:45pm at the Lumsden Hockey Rink. If Bredenbury sweeps Lumsden then the 3rd place Tundra will play the 2nd place River Rats in the QVJHL semi finals starting sometime after Feb 25th in Regina.
