It was a real barn burner in Grenfell last night as the Spitfires clinched their second straight Qu'appelle Valley Senior Hockey League championship. It took seven games and overtime to defeat the Balgonie Bison as the Spitfires won game seven by a score of 4-3 in front of a packed house of close to 800 spectators.
Nathan Murray opened the scoring for the Bison. Nathan Boyer answered back on the powerplay shortly after to tie the game up at 1-1. Less than two minutes later Harrison Ruopp popped one past Kilgore making it 2-1 Balgonie after the first period.

In the second the Spitfires evened things up with an unassisted goal scored by Nolan Souchotte making the score 2-2 after two periods of play.
Late in the third period Grenfell struck first with another unassisted individual effort by the Spitfires' Lane Harbour putting the Spitfires up 3-2 with 2:11 remaining in the game.
Balgonie didn't roll over and die though. With 1:15 left in the third period Tyler Henry found the back of the net tying the game up at three with 1 minute to play. We're off to overtime folks!
In overtime the play was very back and forth but with 5:46 remaining in the first overtime period Grenfell's Allen Kilback fed Rogoschewsky sitting wide open on the back door who burried the puck in the back of the net to win the game 4-3. Balgonie out shot Grenfell 44 - 29.
