The first date for one of three of the 2023 Canada Cup tournaments has been set. The Canadian Beach Handball Tour Canada Cup 1 will be held on Saturday June 17th, 2023 on Treaty 4 territory at the University of Regina Beach Courts in Regina, Saskatchewan. Canada Cup 1 will feature several senior men's and women's teams from across the country of Canada that are made up of members of the Canadian National Team Development program. The national event will be capped off with two marquee games at 7pm and 8pm featuring the Men's and Women's National teams vs an International team or All-star team to be named at a later date. Following the Canada Cup will be a National ID Camp being held on Sunday June 18th, 2023 on Treaty 4 territory at the University of Regina Beach Courts in Regina, Saskatchewan. Registration will be at 8am with the first practice being held at 9am.
The tournament format will be a round robin and then playoffs. Each round robin win will be worth 25 points. Each playoff win will be worth 50 points. The club that finishes 1st will be awarded 100 points. The clubs that finish in 2nd place will get 75 points, 3rd place will take home 50 points and 4th the place club will make off with 25. These points will count towards the final Canada Cup rankings. Each club competing for the overall National Championship title will need to compete in a minimum of 3 Canada Cup tournaments to be eligible for National ranking.
