A 29 year-old male is facing charges in connection with dangerous driving and evading police after an incident that occurred in the early-morning hours of Friday, December 11, 2020.
At about 4:50 a.m. on December 11th, police members on patrol in the area of Elphinstone Street and 3rd Avenue, spotted a suspicious vehicle. The police unit activated emergency equipment at Sherwood Drive and McCarthy Boulevard, in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but it drove away.
A short time later, when officers were able to deploy a spike belt, the vehicle fled again, disobeying traffic signals and driving at high speeds. The vehicle finally came to a stop in a field, west of Pinkie Road and the driver fled from the vehicle.
The suspect was taken into custody with the help of a canine team and was then transported to hospital for treatment of a canine bite.
Twenty-nine year-old Theoren Wendell PASQUA, of the Fort Qu’Appelle District, is charged with:
Flight from Peace Officer [320.17 CC];
Operate Conveyance Dangerous to Public [321.12(1) CC]; and
Fail to Comply with Conditions of Release Order [145(5)(a) CC].
PASQUA made his first court appearance on these charges in Provincial Court on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.
