Historic Night for SJFHL

October 7 was a historic night in Gull Lake as 33 female players participated in the first junior female hockey game, with the Southwest Impact hosting Lumsden Lynx. All opening games include a number of firsts:


- first win, Lumsden with a 8-0 victory

- first goal, Kaleigh Tress Lumsden 16.45 of the first period, she finished the night with 4 points

- first penalty, Abbie Noble Impact

- first shutout, Payton Schlamp Lumsden, turning aside all 17 shots

The Lynx goal scorers were Tress with a pair, singles added by Tori McNabb, Sara Lajeunesse, Hannah Sexsmith, Abigail Reimer-Golden, Nikita Schmidt & Brooklyn Hextall. Lumsden was assessed 5 of 9 minor penalties.


Next weekend the remaining four teams in the league will get their seasons started. The season wraps up in Outlook on March 9 & 10 with championship weekend and one team skating away with the Bourgault Cup.
