Rattlers re-sign Regina's Kai Williams for 2021

The Saskatchewan Rattlers are excited to announce the re-signing of Saskatchewan forward, Kai Williams. Williams played with the Rattlers during the 2020 CEBL Summer Series.

Williams, a Regina, SK-native has been playing professional basketball overseas since 2011. He has spent time playing in the British Basketball League (BBL), the Cypriot Basketball Division A (the top-tier men’s professional basketball league in Cyprus), and the Basketligan (Sweden’s premier professional basketball league). Over the span of his professional career, Williams has averaged 9.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 25.9 minutes. The 6-foot-6 small forward averaged 4.8 points, 1.3 assists and 3.4 rebounds in 5 games with the Rattlers during the 2020 Summer Series.

Prior to turning pro, Williams attended Campbell Collegiate in Regina before heading to South Dakota State University to play Division 1 NCAA basketball. Over the course of three years with the Jackrabbits, Williams averaged 11.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 31.7 minutes.

“We’re excited to welcome Kai back to the Rattlers”, said Rattlers GM Barry Rawlyk. “Kai is a local product and a consistent player and we are happy to have him back ahead of the 2021 CEBL season.”

“I’m really thankful and grateful to be given another opportunity to play with the Rattlers for the summer,” said Williams. “I’m looking forward to working with the group of guys the organization has been able to assemble and playing back home on Saskatchewan soil.”

The CEBL is preparing for its third season in 2021 starting June 24, 2021 following the success of this past year's CEBL Summer Series in St. Catharines, Ont., which saw millions of viewers across Canada and around the world tune in starting July 25 to watch 26 games played over 15 days in a single-site league competition. The CEBL became the first professional sports league in Canada to return to play after the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in mid-March shut down sports across the country.
