Two people attempting to break into mailboxes arrested by Prince Albert Police

While on regular patrol in the 1700 block of 9th Ave West at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday December 1st, police spotted two people attempting to break into a nearby set of mailboxes.

A female suspect quickly fled the area, while the man continued to hit the mailboxes with an unknown object.

The man then attempted to leave the area as well, ignoring police commands to stop. A foot pursuit ensued into a nearby alley where the suspect turned to confront the officer still holding something in each hand.

The officer commanded the suspect to drop the perceived weapons and after no compliance, a Conductive Energy Device (CED) was discharged.

Following the struggle, a screw driver and pliers were located at the scene. A hammer was found nearby, and a can of bear spray was located on the man’s person.

A 45-year-old man is charged with mischief, assault of a police officer and possession of a concealed weapon (bear spray) in relation to this incident.
