On Sunday March 5th the Winnipeg Tropics HC and the Winnipeg Rebels HC battled it out in the Winnipeg Team Handball League Men's Semi final. The Tropic went into the game finishing the regular season in 3rd place with a 11-5-2 record. The Rebels finished the regular season in 6th in the WTHL with a 3-15-0 record.
The Winnipeg Rebels had 7 different players grace the scoresheet but one player in particular scored 50% of the Rebels offense against the Tropics. That player was #2 Enis Dzananovic who rocketed 12 goals past the Tropics netminder. Bill Coulter scored 4 goals. Arham Hasmi, Matthew Piki and Dairon Valdes Mendez each pitched in 2 goals a piece. Damanpreet Singh and Matt Rayner each had singles.
Nine different Winnipeg Tropics HC players scored goals inn the victory over the Rebels. Tropics goaltender Tyler Cormier was one of them. Cormier has 4 goals this season and it's the 6th of his WTHL career as a goaltender. Nolan Parrington led the way for the Tropics with 6 goals. Dikan Gjuric and Jordan Pritchard each scored 4 goals. Danny Murray and Jonah Greenberg netted 3 a piece. Patrick Cano, Graham Peitier and Josh Wiebe each put away 2 goals each for the Tropics.
The Winnipeg Tropic led 17-12 at the halftime break and were able to hold onto their lead over the Rebels to win by a score of 27-24. The Winnipeg Tropics HC advance to the Winnipeg Team Handball League Men's Semi finals against the Winnipeg Tube Sharks HC on Sunday March 26th, 2023 at Red River Polytechnic Notre Dame Campus North Gym at 2:00pm in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
