The Yorkton Film Festival (YFF) has announced the nominees for the 2022 Golden Sheaf Awards for best director, research, and the special Kathleen Shannon Award. The winners will be honoured at the awards night May 28, marking the conclusion of the festival which this year celebrates its 75th anniversary.
The festival juries judged all entries and determined the nominees for all awards, including the 16 main categories and six accompanying categories announced in March. The nominees for the Best of Festival Golden Sheaf are not announced in advance, and will the presented at the conclusion of the award night.
The Kathleen Shannon Award, named for the pioneering Montreal film maker who was the founder of the National Film Board’s women’s studio in 1974, is presented to the filmmaker whose production exemplifies diverse, cross‐cultural storytelling in novel and unique ways.
